Mika - School and Life in General

Hello, it’s Mika here, and I want to talk about how my school has been and life in general. For school, my electives are art, soccer and cooking. First of all, for art, I have done some cool projects. For example, just this week I painted a picture for my neighbor of a fish for his birthday. Also, I made I couple of other drawings.

Next, for soccer, my dad made a goal on one of our walls with chalk. Every Tuesday and Thursday I go and practice soccer. I learned a cool trick this week. Now for cooking, I have made a lot of different things from: eggs, brownies, fudge with my brother, and much more. Just this week me and Gabriel make our neighbors a birthday cake. I would say we did pretty good for our first cake!

Now, I want to talk about my math, reading, writing and science. For math I do a program called Khan Academy. So far, in just a couple weeks, I have got 39% mastery in 6th grade math. I do Khan Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Now let’s talk about reading. Before school started me and my brother watched a show called A Series of Unfortunate Events. For his birthday he got all the chapter books, so I read them for reading. Next week I will start on chapter 11.

And finally writing and science. For writing, each week is different. This week I wrote about my book and some key events that happened. And last but not least is science.  I haven't done a lot of science, but what I have done has been fun. Like last week me and my brother did two projects together. Over all, school has been so much fun so far. Have a great day!

Thank you Mika for sharing with us your adventures in learning. It sounds like you have a great schedule and a fun mix between electives and your regular studies. I know science can be tricky, but I bet if you look around you will notice a ton of opportunities, for example, you drew a fantastic fish for your friend. I bet you could study the nomenclature, draw and label the parts of the fish for your next project. You’d be checking both art and science off of your list for the week! Where we live we have science happening right outside our door. I’ve started a science shelf for my grandson so he will have cool things to learn about from where I live. Keep up the great work!
